Activation: the way your nervous system responds to stressors
Softening: the way your nervous system relaxes and reaches a rest and digest state
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
For a long time, movement has become a way of activation; strength training is usually considered healthy stress, but if you are constantly activated and have a hard time softening, then you run out of your internal resources to go through life.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
I believe activating the nervous system is SUPER important because it creates resourcefulness within your system, so you handle life stressors a lot more gracefully. But there is a caveat here. When your nervous system is overloaded and doesn't get a chance to soften and relax, not only can you not build up your resources, but you also begin running out of resources.

We also need to soften often so we can balance it out.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
That's why in our House, we stepped away from typical "fitness training culture," and we introduce movements that teach you to activate and soften.

M3 embodies this polarity beautifully by merging strength and relaxation and the transition in between.
